"I'm not like a regular mom. I'm a cool mom."

Sophia Breton, Cass Dress styled by me in M.i.h's studio
Or an M.i.h mum? The first thing that came to my mind when I walked into the M.i.h studios in West London, my first fashion press day after giving birth to Chance, was that hilarious scene from Mean Girls!

I was there to see the A/W16 collections, in their beautiful studios, and I can honestly say that I have never been so excited; M.i.h Jeans is THE denim girl's brand, that has managed to create collections that epitomises nonchalance, calm and easy breezy aesthetic, that only a true M.i.h girl could evoke upon wearing.

Chloe Lonsdale, founder, CEO and mother of 4, along with her team draw inspiration from a near 50 year old personal archive of denim culture and design. In the 2 collections that I saw which were Pre-Autumn/Winter 2016 and Autumn/Winter 2016 you can immediately see the inspiration that conceived them.

Joan Baez and Mimi Farina, sisters, musicians and folk music scene influencers of the 60s and 70s, conspiring to create optimism, social conscience and opportunity which is so reflected in the collection. I have collated a few of my favourites below, as well as pieces that should be invested in as part of any 'cool mom's' wardrobe.

Modern Nostalgic

Feel young and apart of the gang with Modern Nostalgic; the patterns are uncomplicated, elementary and classic...cream and navy breton anyone?

The Hart All in One, star, both feminine and boyish with star motifs, dare I say the perfect outfit for the four trimester period that no one thinks of, when you are in Operation snapback!!

Newly Authentic

The Moonstone dress, in this blue multi coloured stripe, folky yet modern and forgiving material.

This Marrakesh Jean and Pamela Cardigan, nothing says 'cool mom' more than this, clean and simple, flared trouser, quintessentially 70s and incredibly flattering, accentuating feminine curves gained from pregnancy and elongating those legs...even if you're 5'5 like I am!
