My Pregnancy Skincare

FullSizeRender-4.jpg

Whenever you think of a pregnant woman, you think of a beautiful glowing woman, and I hope for those that have seen me recently, I am not my usual shiny combination oily self?

Actually, don’t answer that! During the 40 weeks of pregnancy (essentially 10 months), a woman goes through many skin changes. Everyone knows about the stretch marks. In fact, if you ask MrL the first thing I did, after finding out I was pregnant,  was run out and buy Bio Oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, rosehip oil, many oils in the truck load, anything that could help save me from the marks that I am genetically predisposed to.

Then I started reading, and I learnt that during pregnancy you could develop many other changes, such as changes to skin colour, spots and your skin could become just that bit itchy and sensitive.
As a teenager, I was prone to acne, so I was acutely aware that with the higher levels of hormones, encouraging the production of sebum, that I could revert back to my 13 year old self pre Dianette! I began the search for a gentle cleanser, which could be used both night and day; a toner; an oil-free moisturiser with SPF and a night cream.

See below for the products that I am using currently

So far, I haven’t suffered from acne, although, what has been irritating me is general itchiness. My skin has become a little bit itchy and a little bit sensitive; thank you increased hormones! Out went my Dr Bronner and in came the Epaderm. Now my bathing routine is followed by ritualistic moisturising, swapping between Bio Oil, rosehip oil and Neal’s Yard mother’s balm.

On my wish list, some cult favourites

Products that I will/have been working my way through
