Jacava London, 9-Free Nailfie

Jacava London, Lincoln Street Nude Nail Polish

I recently received the above nail polish at a baby shower event, and couldn’t wait to try it. I am terrible when it comes to nail maintenance, but being pregnant, I have become more conscious of how my nails look, and how they could potentially look to anyone who catches me rubbing my belly! I am even more conscious of anything that I use potentially harming my unborn child, so keen to learn of safer options.

I hadn’t heard of Jacava London before, their polishes are designed in London and they describe themselves as ‘quintessentially British nail polish brand’.
What piqued my interest about the brand was that they were cruelty free (no animal testing ever), vegan friendly, long lasting and the UK’s first ‘9-free’ nail polish.

What is 9-free? Essentially the polish is free from 9 toxic ingredients known to cause health issues such as cancer, asthma and more disturbingly neo-natal death.
So Jacava polishes are free from formaldehyde, Tosylamide, Toluene, parabens, Camphor, DBP and all phthalates, xylene, ethyl tosylamide and lead.

We are quite used to ‘3-free’ (no formaldehyde, no DBP and no toluene) brands such as Butter London, Essie and OPI as well as ‘5-free’ (no formaldehyde, no tosylamide, no camphor, no DBP and no toluene) from brands such as Chanel, Zoya, Ciate London and JinSoon working to help keep our nails beautiful as well as drive a greener, cleaner environment; so it is nice to see that the beauty market is working harder still to add more non-toxic polishes with the introduction of the ‘9-free’.

Which are your favourite brands?
